We love books. We have tons and tons of books. My parents love books, my husband loves books, my brother loves books, I love books, so it should come as no surprise that my son loves books too.
He started looking at books very early on and I have been reading to him every night ever since he was 2 or 3 months old. It is now my favorite ritual of the day and we are always looking for beautiful new books. My husband and I love browsing for books and children's books are no exception. We choose as much for ourselves as we do for our son. Here are some of our current and all-time favorite. The list is long, and I plan on sharing our favorite books of the moment regularly.
Beyond the Pond, by Joseph Kuefler. A recent favorite. A little boy explores the depths of his pond, discovering a wonderful, imaginary land.
The Adventures of Beekle, the Unimaginary Friend, by Dan Santat. Possibly my son's all-time favorite. This is the story of Beekle, a-yet-to-be-imagined imaginary friend, who goes on a quest to find the child who will imagine him.
Edmond, by Ingrid Chabert and Guridi. This is one of my son's first books and still one of his (and mine) favorite to this day. A French book about a little creature named Edmond who finds a lost egg and adopts it.
Sleep Like a Tiger, by Mary Logue. We only bought this one a few weeks ago but I loved it instantly. The illustrations by Pamela Zagarenski are works of art. This book is about a little girl who isn't tired and asks her parents if everything in the world go to sleep. The text and illustrations are so beautiful and whimsical.
Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak. A classic my son doesn't get tired of hearing. There is something very special and whimsical about the story of Max's journey to the place where the Wild Things are.
What are some of your favorite children's books?
