It's no secret the Holiday season is pretty much my favorite time of the year, and for many reasons. The crisp air, the snow, the warm drinks in the pretty red cups, the shape of Christmas trees you can make out behind people's windows, and... the makeup! Every year, the most amazing makeup collections come out from the best cosmetic brands for the Holidays. I especially love it when brands create "value sets" with more, smaller, products for a very good price. I like to switch things up and those sets are a great way to try a lot of new products on a budget.
I remember receiving Stila Holiday makeup sets when I was 13 or 14, back when you could still only find it at Le Bon Marché in Paris. Their packaging was always so cute, I still have some of the compacts to this day! I wouldn't say the Stila 2016 Holiday Collection has particularly pretty packaging, but what it lacks in cute, it definitely made up for in wow.
I do not have the whole collection but to me the highlighter trio is the star of the show.
The Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting palette ($39) includes 3 shades of beautiful, creamy, velvety highlighters:
✵ Transcendence (opalescent pink / mauve)
✵ Kitten (a Stila classic, light peachy gold)
✵ Bronze (a warmer bronze)
They apply beautifully and while Transcendence and Bronze are not necessarily easy to wear, they are just so pretty you just want to find a way to make them work (and there are ways! I love to use them as eyeshadows).
The Bright & Bold Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Set ($20) is a travel size trio of Stila's iconic matte liquid lipsticks. They do stay on incredibly well and, albeit a bit hard to apply, they are amazingly pigmented. The shades are so fun and surprisingly wearable.
✵ Lume (raspberry fuschia)
✵ Beso (classic red)
✵ Viola (a bright mauvey purple)
The Morning to Moonlight Waterproof Eyeliner Trio ($35) contains three full-size products: two smudge sticks in a dark gray (Stingray) and a deep cognac (Lionfish) and Stila's famous liquid eyeliner in black.
Which trio would you go for?
