Beauty: L'Oréal Infallible Lip Paints Swatches + First Impressions

I recently received a pretty package from L'Oréal Paris containing 12 of their 14 new Infallible Lip Paints. Yes, I squealed. And then I swatched. I love lip products and these fun colored lacquers are no exception.
I always prefer seeing swatches on people so I decided to put my face to the test and be your lip paint guinea pig - even if that meant wearing some pretty unflattering shades for my skin tone. I'll let you see for yourself!

These lip paints are hard to describe. L'Oréal says "lacquer" and that is not wrong but also not completely right. Maybe a hybrid between a lacquer and a high pigment gloss. They apply like a comfortable gloss, not sticky or goopy at all. I find the applicator a bit hard to manage when it comes to dosing the product, but not bad in terms of application. I definitely think they should be worn with a lip liner, otherwise things can get very messy. The color payoff is great, however the formula of the darker shades is patchy and getting an even application without some kind of base underneath is nearly impossible. They are comfortable to wear and very lightweight, which will make them a great Summer lip product!

Lilac Lust is a milky mauve shade that would look absolutely stunning on dark skin tones but unfortunately makes me look like an alien.

Violet Twist is one of the darker shades, not the easiest to apply but not the worst. I think this shade would look gorgeous on darker skin tones but could also work as a fun pop of color on lighter skins for a night out. Make sure you wear a lip liner underneath to ensure an even application.

Bewitching Bordeaux would be a stunning universal shade if it wasn't so patchy! I wore a lip liner but only traced the outline of my lips for review purposes. It might have looked better if I filled in my lips to create a base, but as it is I wouldn't wear this shade on its own.

Taupeless is yet another shade that would look beautiful on my deep-skinned gals. It's too gray for me  but it's definitely right on trend.

Nude Star is a pretty dusty rose with a hint or orange that would look good on anyone. It's very opaque and can be worn on its own.

Spicy Blush is a light creamy nude pink. It looks opaque, probably because it is so close to my natural lip color, but is absolutely lovely on its own for an everyday soft feminine look.

Wild Rose is a light, bright pink. I don't love myself with pink lipstick on but I do think this shade would work on a lot of skin tones.

Fearless Fuchsia is a bright and electric cool pink. I think this shade is a fun and pretty Summer color for all skin tones. It applies well and is very opaque.

Cool Coral is a very orangey-orange that I can't get used to seeing on me. However it would look awesome on darker and olive skin tones.

Orange Envy is another warmer toned deep orange with a hint of red. It is very opaque and applies well.

DIY Red is a gorgeous classic red that would look good on everyone. It is opaque, easy to apply and all around perfect.

Sultry Sangria would be a beautiful wine color if it wasn't so patchy. You can tell from the picture the application was a bit of a struggle. I would definitely use this more as a lipgloss with lipstick underneath or you might end up looking like you have wine stained lips!

These retail for $9.99 USD and are available right now at your local drugstore. Which one is your favorite?
